What is a ground track?

A ground track is the path directly below a satellite on Earth. The magenta line predicts the next two orbits; the cyan marker is the current position. This model uses a circular orbit, a spherical Earth and constant Earth rotation. It does not include atmospheric drag or orbital precession. The map is a latitude/longitude grid, not live tracking.

Cyan: satellite position · Magenta: next two orbits. Adjust the sliders while the satellite moves. Uncheck Play to pause; Reset track returns to the start and keeps your Play setting.
